everything was perfect, it was as if it 'twas a fairy tale
The Zori pack had always lived in peace and plenty. Few of the wolves knew suffering--they were plump and shy creatures; most of them stumbled upon the pack shortly after leaving their homes. The forest provided a perfect territory, and the river that ran through the land gave them fresh water and a plethora of prey. Fish lived in the river and many animals of different shapes and sizes came to the there to drink. Though competition of loners, and bears still provided as a constant threat. The Alpha had always able to run them off in his younger days, but as he grew older and weaker, so did a majority of the pack.. Causing more death to arise than normal. When a most of the pack had died out, humans had come and captured them, taking them to a reservation to be placed with another pack of wolves who'd spent their whole lives in captivity.
Over the next few generations, the packs expanded into one and they again began to thrive in the man made facility they'd come to accept as home-- only they weren't aware of the fact, this wasn't the wild. This was all they'd ever known, finding slabs of meat already cut up in pieces placed into bowls for them to feast. Fresh water surrounding their pack, rain at least once a week.. Never worrying about the constant threats that the real world would have offered.
...but perfection never lasts.
The scientists who'd raised the wolves became bored with the Utopian society they'd created.. They wanted excitement, something that would be worth their time in conducting. One of the men on the team came up with a glorious idea..
In a reservation similar to the Zori pack's, they'd been mutating wolves, giving them strange powers, playing around with genetics, creating hybrids and all sorts of things. These wolves were not given the benefit of the doubt, they fought for food, they faced diseases, they were droughts, the water wasn't always clean, and vicious creatures lurked in the shadows.
Deciding that throwing the powerless wolves in with the mutations would prove to be something worth while, they released the pack of normal wolves into the rouges land on the mountains, curious how long it'd take, till they'd face their fate.
